About Us
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a serious problem that affects over 350,000 people in the United States every year. Sadly, about 90% of these individuals do not survive. However, if someone nearby knows CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and can perform it quickly, the chances of survival increase significantly.
Understanding the importance of CPR, Dr. Nainesh Patel and Dr. Orlando E. Rivera from the Lehigh Valley Health Network started the C.O.R.E group in 2015 with the help of a Pool Trust Grant. Their own experiences with the tragic outcomes of Sudden Cardiac Arrest and the lifesaving potential of bystander CPR motivated them to take action. The goal of C.O.R.E is to teach as many people as possible how to perform CPR to save more lives.
From its beginning, C.O.R.E has attracted support from various groups and individuals who also believe in the importance of immediate CPR for anyone suffering from a cardiac arrest. This support has grown thanks to funding from different sources, including notable contributions facilitated by the American Heart Association and other organizations committed to this cause. Together, we are working to ensure that more people have the skills to make a difference in these critical situations.
